Using your Brew Stand for the first time

November 19, 2015

homebrew-custom-builtYes we have promised a tips and tricks page…Well here is the first entry!

This is really about brewing with your new stand for the first time. Whether you are using a basic 15g setup or a 1bbl automated system, here are some pointers to make sure your first batch was worth the wait!

The biggest mistake after getting a new system is to take it home and immediately start brewing. Especially if you were using turkey fryers or are trying all grain for the first time. Even a simple brew stand takes some time to get used to. We recommend doing a complete water run with JUST water before diving in to make an award winning stout or IPA. You will find that your fire time will be different, how long you take to chill will be different, and if you are new to pumps, transferring from one kettle to another will be an added step to your process.

Note: Water runs are PARTICULARLY important when using your automated system for the first time!
